Beneath the streets of New York City lies one of the largest metro systems in the world, spanning over 660 miles of track, boasting 468 stations, transporting over 5 million people a day, and being the best designated driver a city could ask for. After living in New York for a while, it's hard to be a good commuter on the crowded trains, but these images might just have you rekindling your love for MTA all over again. Although some subway stations need some repairs, the future is bright for the system with features like digital metro cards, more WiFi enabled stations, and the long awaited artsy Second Ave subway line; but until then, enjoy our favorite photos from the subway and the trains of the past 110 years of service.
